Inaugural Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona Champions Basic Academy Look to Defend Their Title as They Take on Mountain View in Round One
Newport Beach, CA, January 31, 2018—The Boras Foundation announced today the final bracket for the Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona beginning March 14, 2018.
The two-time defending Nevada State Champions and defending Boras Classic Champions, Basic Academy ranked 14th nationally by Baseball America take on Mountain View High School of Mesa, Arizona in hopes of becoming back-to-back Champions. Basic Academy brings top talent with Senior pitcher C.J. Dornak (Air Force), Infielder Garrett Giles (1st-Team All State) and Junior pitcher Shane Spencer (Long Beach State).
The 16-team invitational pits the most elite high school teams from Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Nevada, to name a Southwest Champion.
“With the addition of the Arizona Classic last year we have been proud to extend the platform for the young athletes of baseball to showcase their talents on the largest stage in Arizona,” said Scott Boras, Director of The Boras Foundation. “We also believe the team that takes the title of the Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona will have competed against an incredible lineup of extremely talented teams and will have earned the right to be thought of as the premier team in all of the Southwest.”
All hoping to take the Second Annual Boras Baseball Classic of Arizona Southwest Title, the Classic will also feature the talents of: Corona del Sol, Arcadia, Piedra Vista (NM), Legend (CO), Skyridge (UT), Coronado (NV), Sunrise Mountain (AZ), Red Mountain (AZ), Liberty (AZ), Mountain Pointe (AZ), Queen Creek (AZ), Catalina Foothills (AZ), Cienega (AZ), and Perry (AZ).
Corona del Sol and Arcadia High Schools will host the Arizona Classic, March 14-17, 2018.
The 16 high school teams participating in the Classic are guaranteed a minimum of four games with the championship game slated for March 17th, 6 p.m. at Arcadia High School.

Tickets will be on sale for $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. beginning March 14, 2018.
